Puerto del Rosario Shore Excursions
Playa Chica
There's no need to walk very far from the cruise terminal to reach the best beach in Puerto del Roasrio. Just 1/4 mile away you'll find Playa Chica, a delightful crescent of golden sand. An excellent spot for a refreshing dip in the cool and clear sea.
Sculptures
The town of Puerto del Roasario is nicknamed the City of Sculptures; over 150 sculptures are scattered all over town. Many are conveniently situated on the seafront promenade, and you can have an enjoyable stroll discovering a whole plethora of artworks.
Corralejo Natural Park
The beautiful Corralejo Natural Park boasts two contrasting landscapes: to the north, next to the popular resort of Corralejo, a dramatic dune sandscape, and to the south, a rugged volcanic landscape. The beaches are magnificent, too. Corralejo Natural Park is about 15 miles north of Puerto del Rosario by road, and is typically offered as a 'transport-only' destination to cruisers.
Isla de Lobos
This picture-perfect island is located a short 20-minute boat ride from Corralejo. There's lots to see and do on the island, including sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and walking. The Isla de Lobos is a popular shore excursion.
Betancuria
The historic town of Betancuria, situated at the centre of the island, was founded as far back as 1404 by the Norman knight Jean de Bethencourt. The town was the capital of Fuerteventura for many years before being superseded by Puerto del Roasario. A walk around Betancuria will give you an insight into how life used to be on the island. Tour the well-preserved religious buildings, including the Franciscan convent of San Buenaventura, the church of Santa María de la Concepcion, and the chapels of Santa Ines and Nuestra Senora de la Pena. Betancuria is nearly always available as a shore excursion.
