Singapore Shore Excursions
Merlion Park
Merlion Park, the home of the iconic Merlion (half fish, half lion) statue, is located in front of the Fullerton hotel on the shores of Marina bay. From the park there's a beautiful view of Marina Bay Sands over the water and the enormous skyscrapers of the city centre inland.
National Gallery Singapore
Opened in 2015 in the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings, the National Gallery Singapore boasts the largest public collection of artworks in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Echoing Singapore's unique heritage and geographical location, the Gallery features Singapore and Southeast Asian art spread across a series of magnificent salons.
The Long Bar Raffles Hotel
The grand colonial-style Raffles Hotel, named after British statesman Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles the original founder of Singapore, has been Singapore's premier hotel (though with some stiff modern competition!) since its grand opening in the late 20th century.
Many drop by the hotel to experience The Long Bar, birthplace of the famed Singapore Sling cocktail.
The bar's characterful interior, with traditional reed fans and teak chairs, is inspired by Malaysian plantation life in the early 20th century.
Gardens By The Bay
Composed of three magnificent waterside gardens - Bay South, Bay Central and Bay East - Gardens by the Bay helps transform Singapore from 'Garden City' to 'City in a Garden'. The two stand-out highlights are its iconic Supertree Grove, a collection of huge trees made of steel covered by hanging greenery, and the Flower Dome, an enormous glass conservatory which showcases a diverse range of flowers.
Siloso Beach
Just a short distance from the noise of the city you'll find the attractive Siloso beach on Singapore's Sentosa island. Visit one of the many hire concessions to rent equipment for kayaking, inline skating, paddle boarding or cycling. After your stay at the beach one suggestion is to walk to atmospheric Fort Siloso, which was built in the 1880s by the British for the defence of Singapore.
