Port of Departure Tampa, Florida
Carnival Inspiration Moored at Tampa Dock
At Tampa Bay you’ll find one of American’s top cruise ship ports. A combination of easy access, modern cruise terminals, and convenient on-terminal parking make Tampa an ideal place to start your voyage.
The port is an easy transfer from Tampa International Airport (just 10 miles away), which is served by flights from a multitude of locations.
Currently four cruiselines sail from Tampa, Carnival, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises. Between them they offer a great range of Caribbean itineraries.
Carnival was the first to sail out of Tampa. They launched their first service in 1994. Thanks to strong demand Carnival soon added another ship, the 2600 passenger Sensation, which was specially designed to fit beneath Tampa’s famous Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Carnival’s success sailing from Tampa did not pass unnoticed by the other cruiselines. Now a total of four sail out of Tampa; Carnival, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises.
If you’ve a few hours to play with, relax at Tampa’s modern waterfront, where crumbling banana warehouses have been redeveloped into an attractive area, teeming with shops, restaurants and bars. Stop by at the Tampa Bay Information Center to pick up a guide to the locality. Visit the Florida Aquarium (within easy walking distance of the port) and marvel at the wonders of the ocean. Alternative visit Channelside, a trendy shopping center and outdoor space.
