5 Things To Do In Seattle For Cruisers

Space Needle doorstep attraction (easy walk or less than 5mile-8km taxi/bus ride from port) Space Needle Seattle’s landmark Space Needle is 605 ft tall, and has an exciting observation level close to the top of the tower. You can see a panoramic view of the downtown skyline, Washington Lake and Puget Sound, and in the distance snow-topped mountains. Visit at the gift shop for a souvenir or, for a meal with a difference, dine at SkyCity, the needle’s revolving restaurant that turns once per hour.

Pioneer Square doorstep attraction (easy walk or less than 5mile-8km taxi/bus ride from port) Pioneer Square Pioneer Square is the site of the city’s first timber mill, the commercial center of the first pioneer township. Unfortunately the great 1889 fire destroyed all the original wood houses built by the pioneers. The area is now typified by late nineteenth century brick and stone buildings, and is full of art galleries, interesting shops, bookstores and welcoming cafes. Pioneer Square is a mile southwards of Bell Street Pier.

Pike Place Market doorstep attraction (easy walk or less than 5mile-8km taxi/bus ride from port) Pike Place Market A great place to visit in Seattle is Pike Place market, one of a handful farmers’ city markets still going in the US. There are lots of stands to look around, with many goods even now arriving straight from the farmer’s gate. After browsing the busy stalls take a relaxing break and sip a coffee at the original Starbucks, just next to the market. Pike Place is a few minutes walk from Bell Street Pier.

Olympic Sculpture Park doorstep attraction (easy walk or less than 5mile-8km taxi/bus ride from port) Olympic Sculpture Park First opening its doors in 2007, the Olympic Sculpture Park has completely changed a nine acre dockland area into an open and vibrant space for art. Experience the sculptures and enjoy magnificent views of the Olympic mountains and Puget Sound. The park is situated on the coast just north of Bell Street Pier.

Museum of Flight doorstep attraction (easy walk or less than 5mile-8km taxi/bus ride from port) Museum of Flight The Seattle Museum of Flight is home to more than 85 airplanes detailing the past and present of aviation. Inspect the first jet Air Force One, the history of air hostess style, the reusable Shuttle space vehicle, a traffic control tower and a superb display of WWII fighters. The Museum of Flight is situated about 4 miles south of the city center.
