5 Things To Do In Port Canaveral
Jetty Park is a lovely oceanfront park that encompasses a beach, a playground, picnic areas, pavilions and camping grounds. The pier is a great hit with both walkers and fishermen as it offers great views of marine traffic going to/from Port Canaveral, and also excellent fishing for redfish, common jacks and tarpon. The long sandy ocean-facing beach offers many facilities including year-round lifeguards, easy parking, freshwater showers and restrooms. The park is operated by the Port Authority, and is situated next to the port’s exit channel.
Cocoa Beach Pier
Built in 1962 Cocoa Beach Pier is among the most popular landmarks on Florida's Space coast. The 800 foot long pier is home to occasional live entertainment, 5 restaurants, souvenir shops and 4 bars. The beach next to the pier has beach-hire concessions, year-round lifeguards, showers and restrooms. Cocoa Beach is sited only 4 miles south of the port.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center
The Kennedy Space Center is the base of NASA’s operations and was the launch pad for the moon-landing Apollo missions. At the Center you can watch a movie at the IMAX center, learn about the future of space travel at the Exploration Space show, enjoy the Shuttle Launch Experience and go to the famous LC39 Observation Gantry and the Apollo/Saturn V Center. The Center is 9 miles north of the port.
US Astronaut Hall of Fame
The Astronaut Hall of Fame pays tribute to US astronauts. See a fascinating collection which includes a realistic astronaut training simulator, space suits, the Sigma 7 Mercury rocket and the Science On A Sphere show. The Hall of Fame is 4 miles west from the Space Center.
Orlando Amusement Parks
